Claude Review

4.8 4.8/5 Last updated: September 25, 2026

Overview

Claude, built by Anthropic, has quietly become the writer's AI of choice. Where other assistants feel like clever autocomplete, Claude reads like a thoughtful collaborator: its prose has rhythm, its reasoning is careful, and it handles very long documents without losing the thread.

In our testing, Claude consistently produced the best long-form writing of any assistant and was the most reliable at following complex, multi-part instructions. If your work lives in documents, Claude deserves your attention.

Key Features

Pricing

Claude's free tier offers daily access to capable models with standard limits. Pro (around $20/month as of 2026) substantially raises limits and unlocks the most powerful models. Team and Enterprise plans add administration and security for organisations. Writers and researchers who hit free limits will find Pro an easy justification.

User Experience

Claude's interface is calm and focused — a clean chat with Artifacts appearing in a side panel you can iterate on. Projects keep work organised. It lacks some of ChatGPT's playful extras, but everything present feels considered and fast. The mobile apps are solid if less feature-rich than the web.

Performance

Claude shone brightest on long documents: summarising a 200-page report accurately, maintaining consistency across a 5,000-word draft, and catching subtle logical errors in our test materials. Coding assistance is strong, especially for explanation and refactoring. It is slightly slower than ChatGPT on simple queries but more dependable on hard ones.
